The image, whether it is a face or not, is me, a reflection of the self, a way to reveal something about oneself. The inside, that turns to the outside, that makes visible what might otherwise remain hidden, the disease that shows itself on the discoloration of the cheek and on the dark rings under […]
These portraits have been my obsession in the past 8 months. I create a fictional opposite who I start an intense relationship with. Back and forth our communication goes, for hours, I change minuscule things in the expressions, the eyes, the skin-tone, until a weird perfection is achieved and I feel like I made a […]
This year’s paintings have been a continuation of my past exploration of colors and nature. The leaf-gesture has accompanied me for the past year, finding it’s way into almost all my drawings and paintings.
This painting was made after an intense confrontation with art history and the journey it took to get where we are now. The title suggests that we are in constant oscillation between male/female, old/new, beautiful and ugly. Oil and crayons on canvas
The writing through material club (Dunja Krcek and Christina Kehrer) organized a short-term symposium with the beautiful title “unfinished sympathies” where we could bring all the clutter that we collected the past year and finish it there. We worked on plastics, old bills, used copying-paper and cloth and exchanged our favorite poetry and art-writing for […]
These are some of the porcelaine bowls I’ve been working on the past months (13×6,5 cm). The bowl is one of the oldest human forms, and its cultural significance is enormous. Apart from simplifying daily life, bowls are part of religious and spiritual rituals all over the world, and they have been a surface for art […]
These paintings seem to slowly drift from summer into autumn just like the season when they were painted. I spent a summer painting in a ceramics factory in Burgenland. The foundation of the paintings is made of natural soils, the paint on top is oil color.
2016 I spent in India as part of an exchange semester at the art college in Bangalore (Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology). That’s why the things shown here are mostly sketches and the mural we painted on a surf school in the south of India. Watercolor and pencils on paper (size a6) Muralpaint […]
“Mann” and “Frau” (clay, both l=12 cm) are two small sculptures I made spontaneously thinking about Francis Bacons dissolution of the human face and body. The sculptures simultaneously suggest sensuality and brutality.
The paintings I made in this year are influenced by nature and especially by the vineyards where they were painted. I was interested in the brilliant colors that you can find in nature and the slow dissolution into the mind. Oil on canvas
